Frequently Asked Questions about our Sewcial Sessions

Is this a sewing lesson?

No, we are not teaching sewing. However, we are available to help you, so our group is great for beginners. The group often help each other out so it can be a wonderfully supportive experience.

What kind of things can I sew?

People bring all kinds of projects! Clothes, bags, pencil cases, make up bags, bunting, cushions, all sorts!

Do I need to be able to use a sewing machine?

Yes please. As long as you can thread it and use basic straight and zig zag stitch then you’ll be fine.

Can you teach me to use a sewing machine?

Yes, it is £20 for one hour. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure we have enough teachers on the day. Please let us know you want a lesson in the comments section on the booking form on our website

We may contact you to offer you a one-to-one session at a different time to the sewcial group if we can’t offer you a lesson on a Tuesday in the group.

Can I just turn up?

No, please book in advance at

Can I bring my kids?

Not currently, we don’t have the resources to teach/look after little ones. There are hot irons, pins, and sewing machines, not ideal for little fingers!

Do I have to come every week?

You can come as often as you like. You will get more out of it if you book regular sessions, but it is entirely up to you.

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

Yes absolutely!
